• Motorpoint confirms it will stock top quality nearly new Ford Fiestas until at least mid-2026
  • Searches for Fiesta at motorpoint.co.uk surge 43% on day Ford announces it will cease production
  • Brand’s sales figures show Ford Fiesta topped Motorpoint sales charts for all but one of the past six years
  • UK used car sector will mourn the loss of a model that ‘pretty much sold itself’

Motorists mourning the imminent demise of the much-loved Ford Fiesta will continue to find comfort at Motorpoint – the UK’s largest independent retailer of nearly new cars and vans – where top quality examples of the nation’s favourite small car will be on sale until 2026.

Ford sent shockwaves through automotive circles earlier this week when it announced it will cease production of the hugely popular model in mid-2023 after more than 45 years and just under five million sales in the UK alone.

And lovers of the iconic model were quick to react to news of its imminent demise, sending searches for Fiesta surging a massive 43% on the day the announcement was made on 26th October 2022.

Perhaps this was to be expected as Motorpoint data shows that the loss of the Fiesta will be felt every bit as acutely in the used car sector as it will for Ford main dealers and new car dealers.

Sales and enquiry rates from across the Motorpoint network show the model was the top-selling and most-enquired after car for all but one of the past six years.

In total, the Motorpoint network sold an average of 3,310 of Fiesta models each year between 2016 and 2021.

But Motorpoint has good news for Fiesta lovers. The brand’s commitment to selling the very best cars up to two years old, means they will continue to find the widest choice of first rate nearly new Fiestas at Motorpoint’s 19 stores nationwide until mid-2026.

Dean Walker, Director of Stock and Purchasing at Motorpoint, said: “Whether new or nearly new, the Ford Fiesta has been an incredible car since its launch in 1976 and you won’t find a car dealer anywhere that doesn’t love it.

“The public’s love of the Fiesta and their trust in its quality means it’s a car that pretty much sells itself and our sales records across all 19 of our stores and online reflect that. The only year it didn’t top our sales charts was 2018, when it finished runner up to the Nissan Qashqai.”

He added: “We know that motorists everywhere will be every bit as disappointed as we are that Ford has decided to cease production of new Fiestas. But we can offer a crumb of comfort by confirming that the Fiesta will remain in stock at Motorpoint stores nationwide until well into 2026.

“At Motorpoint our policy is to only sell cars that are less than four years old and under 30,000 miles. Additionally, we guarantee that we will never be beaten on price and so our stores and website will become the number one destination for motorists seeking a Fiesta from mid-2023 onwards.”

Walker continued: “At Motorpoint we also offer a market-leading extended warranty option that means customers who do buy a new Fiesta from us can be assured of an additional two years of hassle-free motoring.”
