LONDON, 2 JUNE, 2025:
Collecting Cars has passed a major milestone with its 1,000th Ferrari sale – a bespoke FF personally commissioned by Ferrari Chairman John Elkann – highlighting the platform’s position as a leader in the global collector car market. Demonstrating that online auctions are now the trusted route for selling the world’s most desirable machines, Collecting Cars has generated over £129 million in Ferrari sales to date.

As the go-to online auction platform for supercar enthusiasts around the globe, Collecting Cars has calculated that the 1,000 Ferraris sold have achieved on average 17.3 per cent more bids than other brands sold via the platform; reflecting the fact that these coveted models attract strong competition from prospective buyers.

To date, the platform has sold over 700 Ferraris in the UK, where the auction platform is headquartered. Elsewhere, 200 were sold by enthusiasts across Europe, and more than 70 were auctioned off throughout Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

Since its launch, Collecting Cars has offered a wide spectrum of Ferrari models, ranging from iconic analogue supercars to the latest limited-production hypercars. Among the most notable results are a 1997 Ferrari F50 once owned by Rod Stewart, which achieved £2,940,500, a 2002 Ferrari Enzo that sold for £2,510,500, and a 1991 Ferrari F40 that reached £1,701,000. More recent highlights include a 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX Spider, which was the first such car to be auctioned worldwide and sold for €1,700,000, and a 2022 Ferrari 812 Competizione that sold for €1,310,000.

Modern icons continue to perform strongly, with several Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta models consistently breaking the half-million-pound mark, and high-specification examples of the F12 TDF, 599 GTO, and 488 Pista delivering remarkable prices. Meanwhile, demand for vintage Ferraris also remains strong, with two 365 GTB/4 Daytona models achieving £444,000 and £435,000 respectively, and a rare 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT selling for A$755,000.

Celebrity provenance has added an extra layer of appeal to several auctions. In addition to Rod Stewart’s F50, a 2016 Ferrari F12 TDF previously owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay achieved £792,500, demonstrating the power of profile when paired with the right car.

Edward Lovett, Founder of Collecting Cars, said: “Ferrari is one of the benchmark brands in the collector car world – it resonates across generations, markets and continents. That so many sellers are increasingly choosing to sell their Ferraris online with us is a testament to the trust we’ve built, the transparency of our process, and the strength of our global audience. But this is more than just about numbers – it shows how far online auctions have come, and where the future is heading.”

The sale of John Elkann’s unique FF – a one-off version of Ferrari’s V12 grand tourer – represents a fitting celebration of this milestone. As the automotive world continues to evolve, Collecting Cars remains at the forefront of this transformation, bringing together remarkable cars and passionate collectors through the power of technology – one auction at a time.

As part of its ongoing evolution, The Collecting Group has also recently introduced a seamless login experience across both Collecting Cars and its sister site, Watch Collecting – allowing enthusiasts to browse and bid across both platforms with a single account.
