Hagerty International Limited has acquired the renewal rights of specialist classic car insurer Gilbart-Smith Associates.

Gilbart-Smith Associates has been operational since 1998 and is renowned for providing an exemplary level of personal service. It has a substantial existing client base who own a wide range of classic and enthusiast vehicles.

Effective 1st September 2025, the acquisition sees Hagerty become the appointed broker for existing Gilbart-Smith Associates policy renewals. To ensure a smooth transition Bertie and Emma-Jane Gilbart-Smith will act as consultants for Hagerty over the next twelve months.

Hagerty has been in operation for over 40 years and has had a UK division for nearly 20 years. As the UK’s leading collector car insurance specialists, they serve thousands of enthusiasts and collectors with a range of insurance products, events, membership programmes and market data. In addition, they have a well-established private client division, designed to make the lives of enthusiast vehicle collectors a little easier, with a dedicated team allocated to manage their insurance needs, to offer robust, data-backed valuations and to deliver relevant added-value services and bespoke experiences.
