Most anticipated: Renault Twingo E-Tech electric wins its first UK trophy at the cinch 2025 Car of the Year Awards

Only days after its global reveal in the heart of Paris, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has already won its first accolade, being named one of the ‘Most Anticipated Cars of 2026’ at the cinch 2025 Car of the Year Awards.

While there was acclaim for the brand’s newest addition, there was also success for one of its most established and much-loved models – the Renault Clio securing the title of ‘Best Hatchback of 2025’, making it the second year running that it has won the highly competitive category.

The double success underscores Renault’s leadership in both electric innovation and small car excellence, while also being a winning illustration of the brand’s two-legged approach to offer customers the very best pure electric and electric hybrid cars.

“Who doesn’t love a Twingo?” said Ben Welham, Senior Content Producer at cinch. “It’s a car with so much charm, and the fact it’s coming back is tremendous news. It’s competitively priced, loaded with goodies and looks a picture. We can’t wait to drive it.”

Capturing the spirit of the first-generation icon, the new Twingo E-Tech electric brings together cheeky design, clever modularity and zero-emission urban performance. Compact yet spacious, it features a bright, characterful interior and advanced connected technology, including the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in. Set to launch at under £20,000, it promises to make electric mobility more accessible than ever.

Outlining the reasons that saw Clio retain its ‘Best Hatchback’ crown, Ben continued: “The Renault Clio has long been a popular hatchback here at cinch. We love its versatility, affordability and all-round driving experience. The current Clio is a superb small car and it makes us even more excited for the upcoming 2027 model, which retains a manual gearbox. Bravo!”

Offered with a choice of powertrains, including the innovative full hybrid, the Renault Clio boasts bold, fresh styling and a cutting-edge digital experience. The well-equipped three-model line-up, crowned by the sporty esprit Alpine trim, is available from just £18,995 OTR.

Adam Wood, Managing Director, Renault Group UK, said: “It’s brilliant to see Twingo lift its first trophy just days after it was officially revealed. This award shows just how Twingo’s unique combination of design appeal, versatility and accessibility is creating excitement about a bright future for EVs. We are also proud to see Clio’s best-in-class credentials recognised by cinch, highlighting the market-leading strength of Renault’s small car range.”
