Ferrari takes the top prize in the 2025 edition of the Red Dot Awards with three cars

The Ferrari 12Cilindri and the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, front-mid-engined berlinettas equipped with the Prancing Horse’s iconic naturally-aspirated V12, won the Red Dot: Best of the Best in the Product Design category

Also receiving the same award is the F80, Maranello’s new hybrid supercar equipped with the V6 engine derived from the power unit that won the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 and 2024

Maranello, 04 June 2025 – Ferrari has been honoured with the highest design award from the German Red Dot Award association. The F80, Ferrari 12Cilindri, and Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider all received the Red Dot: Best of the Best in the Product Design category.

The Red Dot Award, a leading industrial design award, honours innovation and excellence in the industry. Celebrating its 71st year, the awards ceremony will be held on 8 July 2025 in Essen, Germany.

Over the past 11 years Ferrari has won 32 Red Dot Awards: no other car manufacturer has achieved comparable results since the award was inaugurated in 1955. Since 2015, the jury has awarded Ferrari no fewer than 13 Red Dot: Best of the Best prizes.

The awards highlight the exceptional work of the Ferrari Styling Centre led by Flavio Manzoni, which focuses on creating innovative cars that continue Ferrari’s legacy and represent the ideal balance between form and function.

FERRARI 12CILINDRI
FERRARI 12CILINDRI SPIDER
The Ferrari 12Cilindri and the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider are inspired by Ferrari Grand Tourers of the 50s and 60s and fully embody the mission of the front-engine V12 two-seater Ferrari in a blend of elegance, versatility, and performance. They represent the latest evolution of this lineage, passing on a unique heritage and elevating it to new standards of performance, comfort, and design. The shapes express sportiness, class, and sobriety: simple and harmonious lines integrate innovations such as integrated active aerodynamics to ensure unparalleled performance, the front-hinged clamshell bonnet that enhances the engine compartment, and classic design cues, like the twin pair of exhaust pipes typical of Ferrari 12Cilindri. In the case of the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, the much-appreciated retractable hardtop (RHT) allows the car to switch to open-air configuration in just 14 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 45 km/h.

F80
The F80 is Maranello’s sixth supercar. The carbon-fibre chassis houses a hybrid power unit that delivers 1200 cv, 900 of which come from the 499P-derived V6 engine, that took two consecutive Le Mans 24 Hours victories in 2023 and 2024. The three-litre V6, internally known as F163CF, boosts the specific power output level to 300 cv/l. The remaining 300 cv are produced by the 800 V hybrid system with an electric front axle (e-4WD) and a rear electric motor (MGU-K). The technological transfer from Formula 1 introduces e-turbos (MGU-H), which generate power from the excess kinetic energy from the rotation of the turbines and eliminates turbo lag. Designed for maximum performance, the car produces 1050 kg downforce at 250 km/h. At the rear is an active wing which adjusts continuously both for height and incidence. The active suspension, whose upper arms are made using 3D metal additive manufacturing technology, dramatically improves the handling especially on the track. The Boost Optimisation records the track and provides an extra power boost in the areas needed to reduce lap times. The ‘1+’ cockpit is asymmetrical: its single-seater effect is geared towards driver comfort, even though the F80 is homologated for two people. The F80 is limited to 799 units and will be produced until 2027, the year the company celebrates its 80th anniversary.

The tour ends at Maranello, with a unique opportunity for owners to drive on the iconic Fiorano Circuit

Maranello, 5 May 2025 – 30 years after the presentation of the F50, which took place on 9 March 1995 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Maranello-based manufacturer is organising the F50 Legacy Tour 2025, an exclusive event celebrating the 30th anniversary of an authentic legend. From today until 10 May 2025, owners of Ferrari’s celebrated V12 supercar will be able to enjoy the unique experience of driving their cars through Tuscany, a region renowned for its art, culture, winding roads and breathtaking vistas.

956410.jpg

This event dedicated to the F50 is the third edition of the Legacy Tour, after the first iteration held in 2023 to celebrate the F40, and the second in 2024 in homage to the GTO, the first ever supercar launched by Ferrari.

The Legacy Tour 2025 sets off today from Saturnia in Tuscany and will follow a route through the Maremma area, the hills around Siena and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The F50s will then be welcomed at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, where they will first be put on show within the factory itself and then paraded around the Fiorano circuit, bringing the F50 Legacy Tour 2025 to a close.

This edition of the tour also sets the stage for the debut of the new Pirelli P Zero Corsa System Collezione series tyre created specifically for the F50, offered in the sizes 245/35 R18 (front) and 335/30 R18 (rear). These tyres, made available to the clients taking part and personalised with the wording ‘Ferrari F50 Legacy Tour 2025’ on the sidewall, were developed on the Fiorano circuit to preserve the car’s original driveability and driving pleasure, and join the range of specific tyres created by Pirelli for all the other supercar models of the Prancing Horse.

Berlin, 28 April 2025 – The Ferrari 12Cilindri and the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider are the only cars to have received one of the 75 prestigious Gold Awards at the 2025 iF Design Awards. The judges highlighted the “ingenious use of graphic elements that wrap the 3D surfaces” of the cars, as well as their “form that is both exciting and reassuring.”

Ferrari also collected an iF Design Award for the F80. These awards further underscore the relentless pursuit of the Ferrari Design Centre, led by Flavio Manzoni, to find cutting-edge design solutions that enhance the Prancing Horse’s models without ever compromising the absolute synergy between functionality and aesthetics.

The award ceremony for the 2025 edition of the iF Design Award, one of the most coveted design recognitions worldwide, was held today in Berlin. Founded in 1953 by iF International Forum Design GmbH, the competition sees judges assessing over 10,500 products and projects from around 70 nations.

The international judging panel praised the design, commenting “Ferrari is the quintessence of luxury. Ferraris have always represented the maximum expression of the automobile, and the 12Cilindri is no exception. This design hints at 1950s and ‘60s Ferraris yet is undeniably modern, from its cutting-edge aerodynamics to its ingenious use of graphical elements that wrap its 3D surfaces. Once again, Ferrari has magically succeeded in creating a form that is both thrilling and reassuring.“

The 2025 Ferrari UK Challenge Trofeo Pirelli race series commences its 7th season this weekend with Round 1 at a new location: Navarra, Spain. It is also the debut season for the Ferrari 296 Challenge in the UK series, replacing the 488 Challenge and 488 Challenge EVO which have been mainstays of the UK series since its inception in 2019.

Ferrari North Europe has confirmed a grid of 20 drivers for the season, with many drivers from previous years transferring into the 296 Challenge in 2025, as well as 9 new drivers who compete in the Ferrari Challenge for the first time. Drivers are split across two different race classes: the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell.

In the Trofeo Pirelli Class, Gilbert Yates (Charles Hurst), the Ferrari Challenge UK 2024 Champion, returns to defend his title against a number of season veterans, such as HR Owen driver Pranav Vangala. However, Yates also faces strong competition from several new drivers entering the series for the first time, including young talents Joseph Dean (Stratstone Colchester) and Callum Leathem (Charles Hurst).

The Coppa Shell class also features a mix of season veterans, including Darren Howell (JCT600 Leeds), Jonathan Satchell (HR Owen), Steven Dopson, Mike Dewhirst (Dick Lovett Swindon) and Peter Hunter (Stratstone Manchester), as well as the “Three Pauls”: Dixon (Dick Lovett Swindon), Rogers (HR Owen), and Simmerson (Graypaul Birmingham). New drivers in the Coppa Shell include Huseyin Sert (Maranello Sales).

The race weekend starts with Friday testing. On Saturday, free practice and qualifying takes place in the morning, followed by the first race which commences at 3:30pm. On Sunday, another morning qualifying session precedes the second and final race of the weekend, which commences at 2:30pm. Both races follow the 30-minute plus one lap format. The Ferrari Challenge UK series will be broadcast live online at: live.ferrari.com.

Following the inaugural round in Navarra, the UK series returns home for the second round at Oulton Park in May. It then heads to Brands Hatch in June, followed by Donington in July. The fifth and final round will take place at Silverstone in September.

Estimated at £150,000-£170,000, it is thought to be unique among the 101 UK-supplied right hand drive examples and will be auctioned on Wednesday 9th April at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.

The eye-catching model has been uprated with wider wheels, various engine modifications and reshaped bodywork by supplying dealer Maranello Concessionaires. It has been maintained by Vince Mezzullo, a Maranello employee who bonded with the owner over their shared Sicilian ancestry, both during and after his time at the renowned dealership.

Finished in Rosso Chiaro with black hide and carpets, it has also benefitted from reworked front and rear aluminium clamshells plus reprofiled B-to-C-post sections and enlarged NACA cooling ducts.

In a landmark moment for Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, has signed a groundbreaking contract with Ferrari for the 2025 season. This move not only shakes up the driver market but also cements Hamilton’s position as one of the most valuable athletes in the world. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the contract and its implications for the sport.

The Financial Details

Hamilton’s contract with Ferrari is reportedly worth an eye-watering $87 million (€80 million) per year as a base salary. This makes it one of the most lucrative deals in Formula 1 history. When additional components such as sponsorship deals, image rights, and performance bonuses are factored in, his total annual earnings could exceed $100 million. The contract spans two years, covering the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with an option to extend into 2027.

Beyond the Track: Charitable Commitments

Ferrari’s deal with Hamilton goes beyond his prowess on the racetrack. A portion of his compensation package will be directed toward supporting his Mission 44 foundation, which focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion within motorsport and beyond. This commitment aligns with Hamilton’s personal values and his ongoing efforts to use his platform for positive change.

A Strategic Move for Ferrari

Ferrari’s decision to bring Hamilton on board is a bold statement of intent. The team, which has faced challenges in reclaiming its championship-winning form, views Hamilton as the key to regaining its dominance. His unparalleled experience, coupled with his ability to deliver under pressure, is expected to provide a significant boost to Ferrari’s performance.

The Impact on Formula 1

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has sparked widespread excitement and speculation among fans and pundits alike. This high-profile switch is likely to inject fresh energy into the sport, reigniting rivalries and drawing new audiences. It also underscores the financial clout and global appeal of Formula 1, where top-tier drivers can command astronomical salaries.

Challenges Ahead

While the partnership between Hamilton and Ferrari has the potential to be a winning combination, it also comes with its challenges. Ferrari will need to provide a car capable of competing at the front of the grid, something that has eluded the team in recent years. Additionally, integrating Hamilton into the team dynamics will be crucial for success, especially with the high expectations that come with such a significant investment.

Conclusion

Lewis Hamilton’s contract with Ferrari represents a new chapter in his illustrious career and a bold step forward for the iconic Italian team. With a record-breaking salary, a commitment to philanthropy, and the promise of on-track excitement, this partnership has all the ingredients to be a game-changer for Formula 1. Fans around the world will undoubtedly be watching closely as this story unfolds in the coming seasons.

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, is embarking on a new journey with Ferrari for the 2025 season, marking a significant shift in the landscape of the sport. The British driver, renowned for his record-breaking career with Mercedes, has signed a lucrative multi-year contract with the iconic Italian team, reportedly worth over £50 million annually. This move, which sees him replacing Carlos Sainz Jr., has generated considerable excitement and debate within the F1 community.

The Transition to Ferrari

Hamilton’s integration into Ferrari is being meticulously planned under the leadership of Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur. To ensure a smooth transition, Hamilton will participate in a “Testing of Previous Cars” session, giving him a chance to adapt to Ferrari’s operational framework. Additionally, Ferrari has arranged a highly anticipated official launch event for February 19, 2025, following the broader F1 season unveiling at the O2 arena the day prior.

Vasseur has also taken steps to shield Hamilton from excessive public commitments early on, allowing the driver to focus on acclimatizing to his new environment and contributing to car development. This strategic approach underscores Ferrari’s commitment to maximizing Hamilton’s potential with the team.

Embracing Ferrari Culture

In preparation for his new role, Hamilton is learning Italian, demonstrating his dedication to fully integrating into Ferrari’s culture. The move has been praised by F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, who emphasized the importance of cultural alignment in achieving success with the Scuderia. Hamilton’s efforts to connect with the team on a deeper level are a testament to his commitment to this new chapter.

Moreover, Hamilton has been granted a rare privilege: the opportunity to reside in Enzo Ferrari’s former home during his time in Italy. This honor, previously extended only to F1 legend Michael Schumacher, underscores the high regard in which Hamilton is held by the team.

Mixed Reactions from the F1 World

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has sparked varied opinions across the motorsport world. Flavio Briatore, former Renault team principal, has voiced skepticism, questioning whether Ferrari’s decision will pay off. Conversely, Nigel Mansell, a former F1 champion himself, has expressed optimism, suggesting that Hamilton’s unparalleled skill and experience could lead to his elusive eighth world title.

Looking Ahead to 2025

The 2025 F1 season promises to be one of the most captivating in recent memory, with Hamilton’s move to Ferrari adding a layer of intrigue. Fans are eager to see how the partnership with Charles Leclerc will unfold and whether Ferrari can deliver a car capable of challenging for championships.

For Hamilton, this represents more than just a career move; it is a bold statement about his determination to continue pushing boundaries in pursuit of greatness. As the countdown to the new season begins, all eyes will be on the Scuderia to see if this historic collaboration can deliver the results that fans and the team have long awaited.

Conclusion

Lewis Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari marks a pivotal moment in Formula 1 history. With a well-structured integration plan, cultural adaptation, and a renewed focus on performance, the stage is set for an electrifying season. Whether Hamilton can achieve his dream of an eighth world title with Ferrari remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the 2025 F1 season will be one for the ages.

An American collector is entering a highly storied, world-famous 1957 Ferrari 335 S into this summer’s Salon Privé Concours at Blenheim Palace, to be held on 28-31 August. Chassis number ‘0674’ had a rich racing career and was driven by stars of 1950s motorsport, before spending more than 40 years as part of famed Ferrari collector Pierre Bardinon’s collection. Salon Privé Concours guests will now have a rare chance to see this remarkable car up close.

Acknowledged by many as one of the greatest Ferraris ever, the 335 S starred in the epic 1957 World Sports Car Championship, pipped against fellow front-engined lightweight aluminium-bodied two-seater cars with unlimited engine sizes. What marks the 335 S out is its exceptional four-cam engine, Ferrari’s first. The V12 Tipo 130 block gained new heads with two camshafts per bank, and a remarkable 24 spark plugs, 12 for each 60-degrree vee.

As was often the case in 1950s motorsport, this famed Ferrari started out as a 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, with chassis number ‘0626’. The right-hand drive racer was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1956 Mille Miglia, where it finished fourth. Finished in red with a nose band in Argentine colours, it then finished third in the Nurburgring 1000km, driven by Phil Hill and Ken Wharton. It also later came second in the Swedish GP, driven by the iconic German racer Wolfgang von Trips.

The car was converted to a 315 S Barchetta after the Swedish GP, with a 3.8-litre version of the new engine. The chassis, now renumbered ‘0674’, was developed from 1956’s Type 520, with voluptuous bodywork crafted by Scaglietti. Suspension was quite sophisticated, although Ferrari persisted with drum brakes, rather than the latest trend for discs.

It first raced in 315 S guise in the 1957 Sebring 12 Hours, with drivers Peter Collins and Maurice Trintignant setting the pace early on and eventually finishing sixth, behind the dominant Maseratis. Wolfgang von Trips then took it over for the Mille Miglia, where he finished second in what was to be the final Mille Miglia, following a tragic mid-race accident.

For the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the car was uprated again, to its current 335 S guise. Mike Hawthorn and Luigi Musso raced, and set a ferocious pace early on, although the car didn’t finish due to an engine problem. It did take a creditable fourth place in the Swedish GP on 11 August though, again driven by Hawthorn and Musso.

Later in the year, the car was modified by Scaglietti to a ‘pontoon’ style, in order to improve brake cooling for the season finale in sweltering Caracas. Ferrari duly finished 1-2-3-4 in the race, with ‘0674’ driven by Hawthorn and Luigi Musso following home the winning duo of Peter Collins and Phil Hill.

‘0674’ was then sold to Luigi Chinetti’s NART operation, and was entered for the famous Cuban Grand Prix best known for Juan Manuel Fangio’s kidnapping. With Stirling Moss and Masten Gregory behind the wheel, the 335 S won the Havana event. Chinetti then repainted it in NART’s legendary blue with a white stripe, and it was later acquired by Mike Garber to race in SCCA events, where a highlight included a win in the Road America 500.

After two seasons of competition, the 335 S was by now looking rather race-worn. Garber sold the car to Robert Duesk, known for saving many famous Ferraris, who soon approached noted French collector Pierre Bardinon. Discussions continued for many years, before Bardinon finally agreed to purchase the car in 1970.

Once the Ferrari arrived in France, Bardinon’s team began researching it to inform a restoration. It was sent to Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Modena, where the ‘pontoon’ nose was changed back to the original (the original was retained for display), and the bodywork repainted red. It was then regularly used on the private track Bardinon had built in the grounds of his home. While it rarely left the gates of his private museum, it was still often driven, and also showcased to invited enthusiasts and clubs.

The current owner, an American collector, acquired the car at the 2005 Artcurial Retromobil Auction, for nearly £25 million. Described as a Ferrari with a most significant race history, this iconic model has since been showcased at many blue riband events, including Finali Mondiali Daytona and the Ferrari Classiche Concours.

In a noteworthy extra piece of provenance, this Ferrari 335 S was meticulously examined prior to filming the new Michael Mann epic, ‘Ferrari’. This focused on the 1957 season that ‘0674’ starred in, with particular focus on the Mille Miglia race in which it finished second. The production team built replicas for the film shoot based on the inspection of this car – securing its place in movie history too!

“I’m thrilled this exceptional Ferrari is to join us at Salon Privé Concours this summer,” said Concours Chairman Andrew Bagley. “It has a truly remarkable history, piloted by some of the most iconic racing drivers in the world, and the period records and images that abound for this car justify its status as one of the greatest Ferraris ever built. Thanks to the enthusiasm of our American collector friend, it is set to be a real highlight of our Blenheim Palace event and I look forward to guests from around the world being able to inspect this car.”

Entries are closing soon for the 19th edition of the Salon Privé Concours presented by Aviva, with spaces still being accepted for the following classes:

Pre-War Closed/Elegance

Bugatti – From Grand Prix to Grand Touring

Porsche ‘Rennsport’

Legendary Liveries
