Resolution of seating supply shortage will see INEOS Automotive continue to buck industry trends after posting robust 41% y-o-y growth in 2024

First vehicles are already departing the plant gates destined for retailers in 50 countries worldwide

London, 16 January 2025 – INEOS Automotive’s Hambach plant is back to action stations after a pause in production for the Grenadier and Quartermaster 4X4s. The resolution of a critical shortage of seats after supplier insolvency at the end of last year sees the production line restart on-time, as announced in November.

“This is a great start to the year for us, one I strongly believe will be our best yet and will build on the more than 40% growth year over year we achieved in 2024”, commented Lynn Calder, CEO INEOS Automotive.

“We are so proud to have more than 20,000 Grenadiers on the roads and trails around the world. Significant new markets like Mexico and China created incremental demand just when we had to hit pause on the production line, so it is heartening to already hear the familiar ‘toot’ as vehicles roll through the quality check lines again. We’ve got some catching up to do, but we’re up for the challenge.”

The plant celebrates the start of its third full year of Grenadier series production, with customer orders already leaving the plant gates. The first vehicle off the line on January 16th was a Scottish White Utility Wagon (5-seat) destined for southern France, followed by a pair in Devil Red – a bold, new exterior colour.

Devil Red marks the first opportunity to tweak the product offering for Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster, adding the eleventh shade – a solid red available with the contrast roof in white or black. Also joining Devil Red off the line for the new year will be customer orders of Grenadier 1924. Adding a package of key lifestyle accessories and premium design flair for customers that want to add timeless and durable style to their 4X4’s substance, the Belstaff centenery celebration special edition is limited to 1,924 units.

All has not been quiet, however. With smart ForTwo production coming to an end earlier in 2024, the now defunct production line has been dismantled to open further space for future INEOS product developments.

“We’re very grateful for the patience of our customers, suppliers and production teams as we worked through a difficult situation. We are very proud of our Hambach facility, it is testament to the grit and rigour that underpins INEOS, reopening the doors ready to build on the solid foundations laid last year”, added Philippe Steyer, President INEOS Automotive SAS.

The INEOS Grenadier is now available to customers in 50 countries world-wide, having opened the doors to Mexico and China at the tail-end of 2024.

Visually arresting all-black off-roader features Norweld tray and canopy, JMACX suspension enhancements, Brown Davis long range fuel tank, and REDARC battery and battery management systems

Kaiju Quartermaster will be seen at events cross Australia over the next few months

Australia, 20 December 2024 – INEOS Automotive’s Australian operation has built a one-off special Grenadier Quartermaster Cab Chassis: the ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’. The name, meaning a mythical ‘giant creature’ or ‘monster’ in Japanese, was chosen to convey the powerful capabilities of the Grenadier, and acknowledges Australia’s love affair with modified Japanese 4×4 vehicles.

The striking all-black Kaiju Quartermaster is based on the strong foundation of the Quartermaster Cab Chassis ute, which is engineered to deliver a class-leading combination of off-road capability and load-carrying versatility for work and adventure. The one-off ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’ has been built in partnership with some of Australia’s most innovative and reputable third-party accessory suppliers, including Norweld, Rhino-Rack, Brown Davis, REDARC, JMACX, GME, BF Goodrich, MAXTRAX, and STEDI*.

With a fully blacked-out exterior and commanding presence, the Kaiju project has resulted in a unique off-roader that epitomises an iconic heavily modified Aussie 4×4 overlander, while showcasing the infinite customisation possibilities available to Grenadier and Quartermaster customers.

Justin Hocevar, Regional Director, APAC at INEOS Automotive commented: “We wanted to create a truly unique Quartermaster together with some incredibly innovative local engineering & accessory partners. The Quartermaster Cab Chassis is a ‘blank canvas’ that allows for great versatility when it comes to customisation, so together with these project partners, we let our imagination run wild. Ultimately, the ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’ expresses our Australian vision of Built For More.”

Equipment on the special build includes premium fitment options such as the Norweld Elite Tray and Compact Deluxe Lite Canopy, engineered to handle extreme conditions while being lightweight and designed with a gutter system and rubber seals to ensure dust and water resistance on the most extreme overlanding adventures.

The ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’ is also fitted with the Brown Davis long range fuel tank #IG23A2 – tucked neatly behind the rear bumper, giving explorers the ultimate option for remote travel with a total of 168 litres on top of the factory 90-litre tank.

To provide unparalleled performance and enhanced protection, REDARC’s range of RS3 Pure Sine Wave Inverters, Alpha150 150A lithium battery and Manager Alpha50 have also been fitted, giving the ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’ a complete battery management system for the most demanding recreational and off-grid energy needs.

Unusually, INEOS Automotive extends the vehicle’s warranty to cover select aftermarket components from official accessories partners when ordered through retailers. This provides customers with cast-iron peace-of-mind even when customizing their Grenadier or Quartermaster to suit their own particular needs.

The ‘Kaiju Quartermaster’ will be seen utilised across events and for promotional purposes in Australia over the next few months.

London, 19 December 2024: INEOS Automotive partnered with Scottish Mountain Rescue (SMR) to help the charity deliver vital off-road vehicle training at its recent annual National Training Conference.

Held at Glenmore Lodge in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this year’s Conference saw the introduction of a practical training element to SMR’s 4X4 workshop, in which INEOS Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster 4X4s were put to the test on the Alvie Estate. Representatives of 10 volunteer mountain rescue teams tackled several real-world rescue and recovery scenarios designed to improve their off-road driving and recovery skills.

Ray Smith, 4X4 Lead at Scottish Mountain Rescue, said: “With the help of INEOS Automotive, we were able to provide our volunteers with crucial hands-on 4X4 coaching, training them to tackle tough terrain without the use of a vehicle-mounted winch. These skills are indispensable in many rescues where 4X4s are used not only to transport volunteers to remote locations, but also to move casualties, and act as a mobile centre of operations. Everyone was impressed by the capability, comfort and characteristics of the Grenadiers.”

Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, added: “Hooking up with Scottish Mountain Rescue is yet another example of how the versatility and capability of the Grenadier makes it a compelling proposition to emergency services and rescue organisations. It’s becoming the vehicle of choice for rigorous frontline work around the world.”

As well as forging ties with SMR, INEOS Automotive is in service with numerous other search and rescue organisations across Europe and beyond.

Earlier this year, INEOS Automotive became the official vehicle partner of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) charity, while fire and rescue services in several European countries are using Grenadiers in their daily lifesaving work. And further afield, Grenadiers are used by Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche (SARDA), which operates search and rescue dog teams in alpine environments across most major ski areas and high mountains throughout New Zealand.

First customer deliveries to begin in Europe in December

The Quartermaster offers world class off-road capability, with 264mm of ground clearance, an 800mm wading depth and approach, breakover and departure angles that are best in class for any pick-up

Lynn Calder CEO INEOS Automotive said: “The start of production for our second model line is another extremely exciting and important milestone for INEOS Automotive.”

London, 27 November 2023 – The first series production Grenadier Quartermaster double cab pick-ups have started rolling off INEOS Automotive’s production line in Hambach, France. Customer deliveries in Europe are due to start in December 2023, with shipments to Asia Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East following soon after. North American sales of the Quartermaster are scheduled to begin in early 2024.

Aptly named after the senior military officer responsible for the supply and distribution of provisions, the five-seat double cab Quartermaster was developed in tandem with the Grenadier Station Wagon and built on the same production line at Hambach, France. Unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, the Quartermaster is engineered to deliver the same uncompromising off-road capability and dependability as the Station Wagon but with greater load-carrying versatility.

The Quartermaster shares the Station Wagon’s full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials. Power comes from a choice of BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines, driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

The largest model in the Grenadier line-up, Quartermaster rides on an extended 3227mm wheelbase – 305mm longer than the Station Wagon. This extended chassis creates a large and highly versatile loadbay, with a payload of up to 760kg and the capability to carry a standard 1200mm x 800mm Euro pallet with ease.

A chassis cab model, using the same frame as the Quartermaster pick-up will enter production in 2024, and will be specifically aimed at conversion specialists and commercial body builders.

INEOS Automotive acquired the manufacturing facility at Hambach from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021 and support for the production of the Grenadier line included a new semi-automated paintshop, a new fully automated bodyshop, and a new quality centre.

“The start of production for our second model line is another extremely exciting and important milestone for INEOS Automotive.” says Lynn Calder, CEO, INEOS Automotive. “As part of the final sign-off process I drove a late prototype in both Spain and the African bush and it’s unbeatable off-road, combining the rugged capability and refined performance of the Station Wagon with the enormous load bay that can carry a huge amount of kit and cargo. It’s a great addition to our model line-up.”

Its longer wheelbase gives it a load bay that easily carries a standard Euro pallet

Lynn Calder CEO INEOS Automotive said: “I think it is a great looking car, it is truly rugged and unbeatable off-road.”

The Grenadier Quartermaster will be available for order in the UK on 13 July.

London, 13 July 2023 – The All-New INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster makes its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Developed and built alongside the Grenadier Station Wagon, the all-new double cab pick-up delivers the same uncompromising off-road capability and dependability as its stablemate.

Lynn Calder CEO INEOS Automotive said, “I think it is a great looking vehicle, it is truly rugged and unbeatable off-road.”

While the Grenadier Quartermaster shares most of its architecture and components with the Station Wagon, its strong and rigid box-section ladder frame chassis is 305mm longer. This results in a large and versatile load bay, 1,564mm long and 1,619mm wide, that is large enough to carry a standard 1,200mm x 800mm Euro pallet with ease.

With a payload of 760kg, the same 3,500kg towing capacity as the Grenadier Station Wagon, and a wide range of accessories available, the Grenadier Quartermaster is capable of carrying five people and their bulkiest of loads. Its everyday cargo-lugging versatility is assured by four tie-down rings in the load space (Utility Rails optional), a 400W power take-off, an integrated mounting bar, and a wide 1,280mm tailgate that can support up to 225kg when open.

Like the Station Wagon, the pick-up is powered by BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. A centre differential lock and a two-speed transfer case are fitted as standard (front and rear diff locks are optional). The Grenadier Quartermaster also rides on the same heavy-duty five-link front and rear suspension, and is fitted with Carraro-supplied solid beam axles complemented by powerful Brembo brakes and a recirculating ball steering system.

The Grenadier Quartermaster boasts class-leading off-road ability, with 264mm of ground clearance, an 800mm wading depth and approach, breakover and departure angles unrivalled by any other series production pick-up.

The model line-up will mirror that of the Station Wagon and is available in standard, Trialmaster and Fieldmaster trim, all of which carry the commercial N1 vehicle classification in the EU.

Quartermaster will be available with a wide range of tailored accessories for drivers looking to customise it to their specific needs. Its cargo bay can be fitted with a robust frame and waterproof canvas canopy or a lockable roller tonneau cover, while a roof rack further increases carrying capacity and can host a wide range of mounts to carry expedition essentials such as jerry cans, sand ladders and shovels.

Order books in the UK open on 13 July 2023. To find out more about Grenadier prices, technical specifications and options, visit www.ineosgrenadier.com.
